Europe Turning Directions Opened Dow Weakens

Stock markets in Europe and the U.S. again weakened in trading Wednesday (10/09/2011). Asian markets closed higher earlier after the Fed said it would keep interest rates low for at least two years. In fact, European stock markets had strengthened.
Issues that emerged in the European market is France's debt problem and likely the country will lose its ranking because of debt. Banking stocks were the hardest hit rumors. In Europe, the FTSE 100 index down 1.4 percent, Germany's DAX down 2.5 percent and France's CAC down 2.5 percent.
In the U.S., the Dow Jones opened down 2.21 percent and the S & P fell 2.04 percent. (AP / AFP / joe)
